New ish member.

Post by anniesboy68 » 10 Jul 2017, 16:16

I say new ish member as I have used the site a couple of times regarding questions, and looking in the forum. My name is David Morath and now at the grand old age of 84 after retiring from the post office in 1992. I live at New Duston Northampton. I have been a semi pro musician since god knows when playing trumpet, electronic accordion and pedal steel guitar in dance bands, here and in London. Upon retiring I bought my first organ a Technics U30 and soon updated to the U60. Then came the purchase of a Technics KN3000 then up to KN6500 and then the KN7000 which is a beautiful instrument. I now have of course the wonderful Tyros 5 which is of course only a few years old. I am a busker mainly. If anybody is local to Northampton you may wish to contact me via private message etc. Regards to all..... David Morath

Hello David and welcome to the forum. I had the U90 many years ago as this was a 76 note organ. I then had several KN keyboards but always preferred the sound of the Yamaha. Started with the 6700 and worked my way through to the Tyros 5.
Hope you enjoy being a member here.

Hello David and welcome. As a "Yank" from across the pond, I've frequently seen the term "Busker" and am curious about the reference. Terms like "by ear", "by note" and "Fakebook Fanatic" that I think refer to styles of self motivated musicians. Is there a similarity?

Busker to my mind means "by ear" However, in my case although I used the term busker I can read piano music to a degree as long as the chords are there. No problem in the past regarding reading with the trumpet, playing in a section one had to. Dave
