which computer and software

Post by Liam » 05 Mar 2014, 09:00

Hello all, I am home again for a while. I want to get a computer linked to my keyboard with good software.
Can someone recommend a good set up please, I am lost when it comes to
choosing. I do not want to spend a fortune, but I don't want to keep having to add bits.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Liam

It depends on what you want to do with the computer and software. There is a lot of free software available for windows computers. However, in order to give you some suggestions we need to know what you want to do. here are some links to software which you can peruse:
http://www.psrtutorial.com/util/index.html
http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
http://musescore.org/

Hope this is of some help. The top two links are utility programs just for Yamaha keyboards. The third is an Audio editor Audacity. The last is a notation program.
These pretty well cover the low cost section of software.

Thank you Ed.

I am slowly getting a plan together, thanks to Roland, he has given me great help. i will look at these sites. I am going to get a ur44 audio interface and a new laptop. Eileen has also been very helpful and given me information about my keyboards capabilities. I hope to get gear next month.
Kind regards

Liam
