Hard Drive For a PSR 8000

Post by David » 04 Jan 2015, 19:32

Hi
I still use my PSR 8000, but the Hard Drive has stopped functioning. Has anyone any suggestions as to how I can get the registrations and Styles from the Hard Drive, and the best place to get a replacement Hard Drive.

Hello David,
Have you tried putting the hard drive in a caddy and seeing if the computer will read it. If so you can save it onto your computer and then you will have a back up. Getting a hard drive may be a little more difficult because the 8000 only accepted a very small one around 40 Gb IDE. You will not be able to get a new one anymore.
Maybe another member will be able to help you .

Hi Eileen

Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately I don't know what a 'caddy' is, can you explain.

Hi David,
A caddy is a case used to put the hard drive into so that you can connect it to a computer via USB.
If you go onto Amazon and Type in DIGIFLEX 2.5 IDE to USB Hard Drive Caddy Enclosure, it will come up for you. Price is £6.50 plus delivery and comes with everything needed.
Hope this will help you.

Hi Eileen and Arthur
Thank you for your help with this. I obtained a replacement hard drive and have re-entered my programmes with only one set being lost, which is great.
Thank you for your help.
David
